Lighting and Sculpture Designers, Jen and Steve from arcform

When Jen first contacted me about branding and product photography for their new lighting company, arcform, I was super excited! Jen had sent me some images of their home after our initial chat. Not only are their designs incredibly beautiful, their home also looked like it was something straight out of an interior design magazine!

Planning for the photoshoot

Once we’d set a date for the shoot we got planning! I sent Jen an in-depth questionnaire. This questionnaire helps me to get to know a brand and business and to understand exactly what the expectations are. The next step was for Jen to start creating a pinterest board. This helps to see what their vision of the brand photoshoot actually looks like. These images obviously aren’t copied but I do look at the type of look and feel the board has and this is a huge help when planning for a branding shoot. Together, Jen and Steve are incredibly creative and the pinterest board did not disappoint. It had so many gorgeous images and inspirations on one board!

Understanding the Brand

Steve, an engineer by trade, has an incredible talent in creating these lights and sculptures. He had a clear vision of how they wanted them to look in their home for their photoshoot. I made sure I packed my tether cable in my kit bag, to ensure we could see how their product photography was looking straight out of camera. This isn’t always used during photoshoots but when I have a client with a clear brief on what they want and need for their photography, it certainly helps to stay on track with what I’m capturing.

Personal Brand Photography

As a new business and brand Jen and I discussed capturing images of both of them too. Jen knows how important it is to show up for your brand and, when you create such amazing products, people want to know all about how it’s done. We had a mixture of shots in the shoot plan. These included some candid shots of the 2 of them, single shots of Jen working on the brand and digital side of the business and then Steve in his workshop creating the statement lights and sculptures.
